I grew up poor, there was a lot of fucking chicken in our lives, so I am always trying to make it taste better. But I’ve recently made a mistake – I started to load chicken up with the kitchen sink and all, and I wondered why it wasn’t tasting as good as I expected.
Chicken is great – but you need to keep it simple. The other day I made a series of sandwiches with chicken, slicing them thin and then sauteing them in garlic, teriyaki sauce, salt, pepper and a sprinkle of asiago cheese, with butter to keep things rich (not necessary but I’m beyond counting calories that day, things were rough – story for another time).
These sandwiches were fucking AMAZING. The only thing that could have made it better was for me to have planned it and bought good sandwich bread (kaiser rolls or something) instead I had old Sourdough. I adore sourdough but it was, ya know, old.
I am learning to fall back in love with chicken. I’ll be posting a good deal more about these new-love chicken recipes.
